TWISTED CONCEPTS BMX TEAM
Rich rejoins the team for 2018, having taken a year off in 2017 to concentrate on setting up his new business.
Growing up near Milton Keynes, Rich's original interest was with motorbikes, but after watching the 2012 Olympics, he was hooked on BMX. Rich rides both 20" and Cruiser and achieved 4th overall at the Brits in 2016..
Martin ("Smiley") has been racing since 2007 on both 20" and 24". He has finished in the top 10 nationally nearly every year, with his best result being 3rd. He has also achieved a 3rd place at European rounds.
When Smiley is not at a BMX track, he will be racing 4x or mountain bikes, at the skate park or doing something else that involves 2 wheels!
Expert Male - age 12
Representing Ireland but competing in the UK National Series, Callum started racing in 2013 at age 7.
Callum lives in Co. Kildare and is a member of the Lucan BMX Club. In 2016 Callum raced up an age group and won #3 plate in Ireland. He also won the #15 plate in the UK.
Callum's ambition is to be an Irish National Champion and also make another assault on the UK National Series.
When he isn't racing, Callum plays Rugby for Naas, Co. Kildare and loves playing on the Xbox.
Expert Male - age 15
Finley joins the Twisted Concepts Team for the 2018 season,
Finley is a full time student from Nuneaton and he started riding when he was 9 years old. He won the Midlands Champs (novice) in 2013 and again in 2017 (expert).
Finley enjoys the adrenaline rush from riding and loves sending big jumps and gaps.
Ben is the youngest (by 1 day) and smallest member of the team.
For 2018, Ben has opted to try out the Cruiser class as well as ride in the Expert age 11 class.
Ben lives in Northamptonshire and is in his last year at primary school.
When he isn’t riding bikes, despite his small stature, he plays Basketball and has represented his school in Basketball Tournaments. He has also represented his school in Cross Country Competitions.
Female Expert - age 13-14
Morgan joined the team at the start of 2017 and we are delighted to have her in the team again for 2018.
Morgan's interest in BMX started after watching her dad, Tom, winning BMX events. Morgan decided she wanted a nice, shiny trophy as well!
In 2017, Morgan achieved 7th position in the Female Expert 13-14 year age group and hopes to improve on that for 2018.
Morgan is a full time student from Nuneaton.
Harry started riding BMX when he was 3 years old! Harry is 1 day older than Ben, which means they get to celebrate their birthday together each year.
Harry lives in Buckinghamshire and is in his last year at primary school.
When he isn’t riding, Harry loves athletics, particularly running. He has represented his School and District in Cross Country Running Tournaments. He also takes part in Triathlons.
Harry is a keen drummer and has his own full sized drum kit.
Harry's dad and a legendary BMX rider from the 1980s-90s, Miles started racing in Milton Keynes in 1983, a few weeks after getting a Diamond Back Silver Streak for his 10th birthday.
Miles competed at national level throughout the 1980s and 1990s. After semi-retirement, Miles returned to BMX in the early 2000s, representing the UK at the World Championships in 2004 and 2005.
Miles is a regular commentator, mainly covering the EA region and London races, but he has also been involved with the Prudential Ride London Grand Prix.
When he isn't supporting his sons at BMX races, Miles can be found riding his mountain bike at Chicksands or Woburn.
Expert Male & Cruiser - age 11
Expert Male - age 17-24
Nathan joins the team for 2018.
Nathan moved to the UK from Thailand in 2012. Having been very keen on football in Thailand, a friend invited him to the Hackney BMX club where he became hooked on BMX. His first race was at East Kent in 2013.
Nathan has an interest in many sports, including football, tennis, volleyball, skateboarding and mountain bike riding.
During 2017, Nathan returned to Thailand on vacation and competed in some Thai races, gaining a top 10 national ranking for his age group.
Masters & Cruiser - age 35-39
Martin "Smiley" Brown
Cruiser - age 17-29
Spencer lives in Northamptonshire and had an interest in BMX when he was a teenager. His interest was reignited when his own sons took up BMX and they joined the MK BMX Club together, to compete in the EA Championship Rounds.
Spencer loves to keep fit and was previously a sprinter for Bournemouth Athletics Club.
2018 will mark the start of the 3rd National series for Myles, aka General Banta.
Myles was drawn to the sport by a bike mad stepson. Racing against riders with 30+ years experience, Myles feels it is an uphill struggle, but the buzz of riding with the best will always guarantee a smile and a joke.
In 2017, Myles was 3rd in his regional class and 25th nationally.
